Jimmy Buffett is dead. His career spanned more than five decades and he became famous for such hits as “Margaritaville,” “Come Monday” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”
Buffett began his career as a country music singer and songwriter, but his sound evolved into what he called “Drunk Caribbean Rock and Roll,” influenced heavily by his association with Key West, Florida – where he spent much of his time after growing up around Mobile, Alabama.
He became a folk hero to fans known as “Parrot Heads” in an homage to fans of the Grateful Dead, known as “Dead Heads.” Buffett was 76 years old.
