Illinois teachers who burned up a lot of their sick time because of COVID-19 will soon be able to get that time restored… if they’re fully vaccinated against the virus.

The Illinois Senate approved a revised measure Thursday to reinstate those benefits for vaccinated teachers. Lawmakers last year approved a similar measure that would have applied to all teachers who had to take time off because of a COVID diagnosis or exposure, but Governor JB Pritzker vetoed that measure and proposed an alternative that only applies to those who are vaccinated… or have a medical or religious exemption.

The bill now heads to Pritzker’s desk, and he is expected to sign it.
