It’s another new one-day record for COVID cases in Sangamon County, and two more county residents have died of complications from the virus… including a woman in her 30s.

The county saw 925 new confirmed cases Thursday, shattering the record of 762 cases set one day earlier. The seven-day average of new cases has now jumped to more than 500 per day. The latest fatalities are a woman in her 30s and a man in his 70s… both of them were partially vaccinated. The county is now at more than 37,000 total cases. That number was 28,000 just one month ago, which means that almost one-fourth of total infections since the start of the pandemic have occurred in the last month. 319 county residents have died of the effects of COVID.

[Menard County also set a one-day record Thursday, with 62 new cases, as its average climbs to more than 30 per day.]
