COVID cases continue to soar in Sangamon County.
The county saw 636 new confirmed cases Tuesday, the second-highest one-day total since the start of the pandemic. Hospitalizations are also climbing, with 89 Sangamon County residents currently in local hospitals with COVID. But the actual hospitalization numbers in Springfield are higher, since both hospitals are also treating COVID patients from nearby counties.
Menard County also saw a near-record number of cases Tuesday, with 46… also the second-highest total in a single day.
