A former Illinois lawmaker will serve a year in prison for collecting nearly a quarter-million-dollars for a job in which he did not actually do any work.
Former Democratic state senator Tom Cullerton pleaded guilty back in March to a charge of embezzlement taking a position with the Teamsters in which he was paid the money but did not actually perform any work.
Prosecutors say Cullerton was hired for the position as a favor to another lawmaker, identified in court papers only as “Senator A.”
