The Springfield Police Department has shared more information on a deadly car crash that took place Sunday afternoon.
Police responded to the area of East Lake Shore Drive and Sycamore Lane at 12:51 p.m.
They determined that a car was traveling east on East Lake Shore Drive when it veered off the road and hit a tree.
The driver was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the passenger, whom the Sangamon County Coroner previously identified as a 56-year-old Wood River woman, was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital; she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
