Illinois State Police say they seized almost 18,000 pounds of illegal drugs across the state last year.

State Police also noted that they had arrested more than 1,900 people last year on charges ranging from drugs and gun violations to human trafficking; investigations of human trafficking operations began just last year throughout Illinois.

ISP says Metropolitan Enforcement Groups and Drug Task Forces in jurisdictions across the state seized more than 17,800 pounds of illegal drugs and more than 700 firearms in total.
