Mid-American Paleontology Society holding fossil program October 20 at the Illinois State Fairground

The Mid-American Paleontology Society will be hosting a fossil show at the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds starting on Friday, October 20.

The show is the largest in the world dedicated exclusively to fossils, and attendance is free and open to the public.

The theme for EXPO 2023 will be ‘The Devonian’, and the keynote address will be given by Dr. Jed Day of Illinois State University.

Programs At The Orr Building:

10:30 a.m. Eugene Koprowski: ‘A new study demonstrates the isolation and sequencing of ancient RNA molecules preserved at room temperature can be used to reconstruct skin and tissue samples from an extinct species’.

11:45 a.m. ‘Stump the Experts- Bring your fossils to ID’
Someone will be available at a table near the registration desk at 11:45 Friday and Saturday for fossil ID
