Springfield Attorney Kent Gray announces GOP candidacy for Sangamon County State’s Attorney in wake of Dan Wright announcement

Longtime Springfield attorney Kent Gray announced early on Monday that he is throwing his hat into the Sangamon State’s Attorney race as a Republican candidate.

The currently serving State’s Attorney, Dan Wright, was appointed to a judgeship earlier on Monday and is not expected to run for reelection.

Gray previously worked on the George W. Bush and Donald Trump White House staffs. He was an appointee of President Trump, serving as Senior Advisor at the Department of Housing and Urban Development; Gray was also previously awarded the Republican of the Year Award by the Sangamon County GOP.
