Chicago journalist Rich Miller reminds us of one of the root causes of the influx of Venezuelan refugees to the United States.

As The Economist observed in 2019, President Trump imposed its toughest sanctions ever in January of that year, which the magazine predicted would lead to widespread starvation in the country of 32 million people and that millions would flee because of American efforts to topple Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.
