Springfield City Council votes to fund study concerning Dallman Power Plant

In a discussion that lasted nearly an hour, the Springfield City Council voted 7-2 with one abstention to spend $110,000 studying the feasibility of converting the Dallman Unit 4 power generation plant from coal to natural gas.

Opponents of the measure complained that switching one fossil fuel for another was inconsistent with meeting climate change goals, while proponents countered that any conversion process would need proper study before an informed decision can be made.
