The City of Springfield has been awarded disaster relief money pursuant to an announcement Friday covering over a dozen counties in Illinois.
City Water, Light & Power estimates that it incurred $9 million in disaster-related expenses, while other City departments spent an additional $2 million for expenses related to disaster health & safety and debris management.
The City is expecting to receive 75% of approved expenses from FEMA.
