Monday is the first day of school in District 186, and Springfield Police remind motorists to be careful around school buses and watch for children on foot and bikes.
Back-to-school brings an increase in potential hazards and a need to exercise extra patience.
They say be prepared for kids to appear in unexpected places, to be walking while looking at their phones, and to turn in front of you while on their bikes without looking or signaling.
