The victim of a violent collision between a motor vehicle and a train in Virden has been identified by Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon.
William Jeffery, 66, of Chatham, Illinois, was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident in Virden that occurred last Thursday, July 20.
According to preliminary autopsy findings, Mr. Jeffery died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office; WMAY will have more on the story as more emerges.
