Lincoln Library board trustee Geoffrey Pettys complained at Tuesday’s City Council meeting that the board had not been consulted about the hiring of the library’s last three directors.

Instead, appointments to library leadership have been made by the mayor without proper input from the board, according to Pettys.

He said making the director a political appointee prevents the city from attracting dedicated, innovative and passionate candidates.

Interim library director Kathryn Harris is on a contract with the city through the end of August.
