One week after Springfield derecho, 4,000 CWLP customers remain powerless

As of Thursday morning, some 4,000 City Water Light and Power customers – or a bit over 6% of total customers – were still without power.

One week ago today, the powerful derecho took Springfield and much of the greater community by literal storm, leaving severe property damage and rolling power outages in its wake.

The BOS Center remains open 24-hours as a shelter and cooling and charging station for those still in need of food, water, air conditioning, and even a place to sleep.

You can keep watch of updates through CWLP’s outage map, and by staying locked on WMAY and WMAY.com.
