UPDATE: Weekend sees thousands still without power across Central Illinois

UPDATE: 8:45 Pm: Springfield finds itself with approximately 8,000 power outages across the city, while Sangamon and the other aforementioned counties have all seen their number of power outages slashed as well.

ORIGINAL: While Springfield continues to work on getting power back across the city after Thursday’s powerful rain and wind storm, Sangamon County and the surrounding counties are still struggling to regain electricity as well.

Some 11,000 remain without power in the state capital Saturday night – according to CWLP – and according to the Lansing State Journal, several thousand more across Sangamon County are enduring similar hardships.

Meanwhile, Logan County has a touch over 2,000, Morgan County has nearly 4,000 reported outages, Christian County has 5,000, and Macon County has nearly 9,000 reported outages.
