The Illinois Supreme Court justice who made history with her appointment to the state’s highest court last year is now running for a full term.

Justice Lisa Holder White became the court’s first Black female justice when she was sworn in last July. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of former Chief Justice Rita Garman.

Holder White’s appointment runs through late 2024, so she will run next year as a Republican for a full ten-year term in the court’s 4th District; she and her husband live in Sangamon County.
