With time running out, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says something has to happen – now – to resolve the dispute over the federal debt ceiling.
But Durbin is as much in the dark as anyone about what a successful deal might look like.
Durbin says he is willing to make some compromises to avoid a catastrophic default as early as June 1, but says Republicans have to be willing to give some ground, too.
