WMAY’s Last Night-in-Sports Report: 05/10/2023

For the second night in a row the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley, this time the final score was 6-4.

2 runs in the top of the 9th inning proved to be the difference for the Cards. Nolan Gorman and Paul Dejong homered for the Cards in the victory. Christopher Morel and Dansby Swanson went deep for the Cubs in the loss. The Cards look to complete the 3 game sweep tonight at Wrigley.

The Chicago White Sox got a 4-2 victory over the Royals in Kansas City last night. Lucas Giolito picked up the win on the mound for the Sox and Kendall Graveman earned his first save of the season. Andrew Vaughn and Luis Robert homered for the Sox in the victory. Sox and Royals battle again tonight in KC.

In the NBA playoffs last night both the Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets took 3-2 series leads. The 76ers by defeating the Boston Celtics 115-103 and the Nuggets by getting by the Phoenix Suns 118-102.

And, in the NHL playoffs last night the Carolina Hurricanes blew out the New Jersey Devils 6-1. The Hurricanes lead that series 3-1. Elsewhere the Dallas Stars defeated the Seattle Kracken 6-3 to tie that series up at 2 games apiece.
