A Springfield nonprofit plans a Mother’s Day fundraiser to support its mission of helping youth who are aging out of the foster care system.

Solid Rock Youth Transitional Services seeks to ensure that those young people do not wind up homeless. The group says 70 young adults in Sangamon County aged out of foster care services last year – and based on current trends, it estimates that at least 30 of them were in danger of winding up homeless.

To raise money for transitional housing and support services, Solid Rock will hold a Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday from noon to 3 pm at the Inn at 835.

You can find out more and purchase tickets at solidrockyts.org.
