Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon has released the name of the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car on Springfield’s west side Friday night.
57-year-old Brian Eck of Springfield died of blunt force injuries sustained when he was hit at Veterans Parkway and Washington Street.
Eck was transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 9:30 pm.
The incident remains under investigation by Springfield police.
