No one is hurt after a fire that heavily damaged a home in Chatham; Fire Chief Gary Self says the call came in around 11:40 pm Thursday night.

When crews arrived at the home in the 53-hundred block of Wesley Chapel Road, they found smoke and fire coming from the home.

The woman who lives at the home was able to escape with two of her pets; fire crews rescued a third pet, who was uninjured.

While firefighters kept the flames to just the room where the fire started, there was smoke and heat damage throughout the home, which was declared uninhabitable.

The state fire marshal’s office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
