Top Illinois officials are expressing relief that the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld access to an abortion medication, for now – but they are warning that the fight isn’t yet over.

The justices maintained a hold on a Texas ruling that said the FDA should not have approved mifepristone for use, keeping access in place while legal challenges continue.

Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton says the drug is necessary not only for abortion, but for women experiencing miscarriages, and says it must remain available.

U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth called on Congress to intervene to protect a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices.
