Closing arguments are expected Monday in the trial of four people accused of conspiring to bribe former Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan in order to get favorable treatment for legislation.

The so-called ComEd Four – including the former CEO of Commonwealth Edison and three former lobbyists for the utility – allegedly hired Madigan associates for meaningless jobs and did other favors to ensure their preferred bills were passed.

Madigan himself has been indicted separately, but his trial is not set to begin until next year.
