A 22-year-old man is in custody in connection with this week’s armed bank robbery in Springfield.

Dylan Rensner of Effingham was arrested without incident in Terre Haute, Indiana. He’s accused of entering Regions Bank on Durkin Drive Wednesday, wearing a mask and displaying a handgun.

The gunman left on foot with an unknown amount of cash. Springfield police say tips from community members led them to focus on Rensner as a possible suspect.

They were able to use license plate reader technology and assistance from State Police to locate him.

Local, county, state, and federal officers in Indiana assisted with the arrest. Rensner is being held in the Macon County Jail, and the FBI is taking over the investigation.
