Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski says her biggest surprise in office so far was learning that Congress isn’t as dysfunctional as she thought it would be.

The freshman Democrat talked with WMAY News about her first 100 days in office. She says she went in expecting gridlock, but has found a number of colleagues on both sides of the aisle willing to work together on issues to help American families.

Budzinski has partnered with Republican Congressman Darin LaHood on several bills, and has even found common ground with GOP Congresswoman Mary Miller, despite some deep political differences.

Budzinski says she and Miller are working together on agriculture issues, including a bill to boost biofuels made from Illinois corn.
