Springfield police are investigating a reported home invasion that left one man dead.
A call to 911 sent police to a home in the 11-hundred block of South 19th Street Friday afternoon. The caller told police he had confronted someone inside the residence. Police found a 33-year-old man inside the home with a stab wound. He was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The 911 caller was taken to the police station for questioning. Coroner Jim Allmon says the name of the deceased person is being withheld until relatives are notified.
An autopsy is planned for Monday.
