A proposed “sunshine ordinance” for the City of Springfield would require campaign donations for city elected officials to be posted on the city’s website.

Mayor Jim Langfelder supports the idea, and Alderman Joe McMenamin is expected to introduce such an ordinance in the coming days.

In addition to listing campaign contributors, the proposed ordinance would also require that the listing show which donors have contracts with the city.

It would also require the city’s website to show all business interests and real estate owned by city elected officials.
