The Springfield Fire Department will be showing off some of its newest equipment during Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade downtown.
The department has just acquired a new ladder truck and a new fire engine at a total cost of $1.9 million.
The ladder truck will be on display as part of the Fire Department’s entry into the parade, which steps off at noon Saturday, traveling down Fifth Street to Capitol and back up to Sixth Street.
After the parade, the ladder truck will have specialized equipment and tools added. Both vehicles, designated Truck 1 and Engine 1, will be in service at Fire Station #1 at Ninth and Capitol by the end of this month.
