WMAY’s Last Night-in-Sports Report: 03/07/2023

SHG’s quest to be back-to-back state champions in basketball came to an end last night as the Cyclones fell to East St. Louis in the Supersectional at the BOS Center 59-56 in OT. Zach Hawkinson and Jake Hamilton both had 21pts for SHG in the loss; East St. Louis, meanwhile, now advances to take on Metamora Friday in the class 3A semifinals.

On the ice last night Alex Stalock made 35 saves as the Chicago Blackhawks shut out the Ottawa Senators at the United Center 5-0 the final. Seth Jones led the way with 2 goals for the Hawks and recently acquired Anders Bjork added 3 assists. The game was Alex DeBrincat’s first in the UC since being traded to the Senators in the offseason. The Hawks are off today and will be in Detroit tomorrow to take on the Red Wings.

The St. Louis Blues continue their west coast swing tonight as they are out in the desert to take on the Arizona Coyotes.

Puck drop is scheduled for 8p CT.
