Illinois State Police have been called in to investigate a suspicious death in Mason County.
The body of a 69-year-old man was discovered Thursday at a residence in the town of Goofy Ridge after the Mason County Sheriff’s Department went to the home for a well-being check.
While describing the death as “suspicious,” the exact cause of death has not been determined, pending an autopsy scheduled for Saturday.
But police say they do not believe there is cause for public concern.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police or the Mason County Sheriff’s office.
