After high winds battered Springfield and much of Central Illinois Friday, you can expect more powerful gusts over the weekend.

Friday saw daytime wind gusts of up to 60 miles an hour, which resulted in a number of power lines coming down and outages impacting thousands of Central Illinois residents.

Both City Water Light and Power and Ameren saw major outages because of the winds.

Classes were disrupted in at least two Springfield schools, Lee and Dubois, because of the outages.

Conditions will be calmer on Saturday, but winds could pick up again on Sunday and Monday.
