Springfield’s Phoenix Center has launched a new kind of vending machine.
The “harm reduction” machine stocks products from fentanyl test strips to Narcan to clean needles, all intended to reduce dangers for people struggling with drug addiction or at higher risk of HIV or hepatitis.
The machine also includes hygiene products, food, and other products for those in need.
Items in the vending machine, located outside the Phoenix Center, are free.
