Former Springfield Mayor Mike Houston is taking sides in another race in the April election.
Houston is endorsing city budget director Bill McCarty in the three-way race for city treasurer.
McCarty served as budget director during Houston’s most recent term as mayor from 2011 to 2015.
Then McCarty stayed in that role under Houston’s successor, Jim Langfelder.
Houston endorsed Langfelder for re-election last week, and now says McCarty is the most knowledgeable candidate about city finances.
McCarty is facing two challengers, Lisa Badger, and Colleen Redpath Feger.
