The new Illinois General Assembly has been sworn in.
Newly-elected lawmakers took their oaths of office Wednesday in separate ceremonies for the House and Senate.
Among those sworn in are newly-appointed Republican state Representative Mike Coffey, who was named last week to fill the vacancy created when Tim Butler resigned from the House shortly after being elected to a full two-year term. Also sworn in was Democratic state Senator Doris Turner, who won election to a full term in her own right after being appointed to her seat nearly two years ago.
