Wednesday could be the day that an Illinois judge rules on whether a state law that would end cash bail will take effect as scheduled on January 1st.
The Kankakee County judge heard arguments last week in a consolidated case brought by more than 60 state’s attorneys, who argue the provisions of the SAFE-T Act are unconstitutional.
The law is scheduled to take effect Sunday unless it’s blocked by the court.
