Community college enrollment has increased in Illinois for the first time in more than a decade.
The number of students enrolled at community colleges has steadily declined since 2009… and plunged in 2020 as a result of the pandemic. But this fall, total headcount climbed from around 230,000 to just under 234,000… an increase of 1.5 percent.
But that’s still nearly 40,000 fewer students than were enrolled in community colleges in 2019, the final year before the pandemic sent the numbers plummeting.
