Governor JB Pritzker is continuing to relax COVID-19 rules governing health care and long term care facilities around the state.

Pritzker and state public health officials say as COVID becomes “endemic,” like the flu, the rules are being modified to help people manage it with the least amount of disruption. The updated guidelines mean that masks are no longer required in health care facilities… but are still recommended in areas of high community transmission.

The state is ending its vaccine mandate for health care and long-term care workers, but many of those facilities remain under a federal vaccine mandate if they provide services under Medicaid and Medicare. Unvaccinated workers in such facilities will no longer be required to test weekly for COVID.
