U.S. Senator Dick Durbin is weighing on the race for the Illinois Supreme Court.
Two vacant seats are up for grabs in next month’s election, and they could tilt the balance on the state’s highest court from Democratic to Republican. Durbin has recorded a video ad for Democratic candidate Elizabeth Rochford, calling her reasonable and respected.
In the ad, Durbin takes shots at her opponent, Mark Curran… who ran unsuccessfully against Durbin for the U.S. Senate in 2020. Durbin says Curran is anti-choice and falsely believes the 2020 election was stolen, and says Curran’s mind is, quote, “bubbling over with screwball conspiracies.”
