The Greyhound Bus Line is partnering with the Sangamon Mass Transit District, putting both local bus service and service between cities at the same origination point.
Effective November 1st, local Greyhound riders will board the bus at the SMTD transfer station at 111 South 11th Street. After closing down its own Springfield terminal, Greyhound had in recent years picked up passengers at Shaner’s Tire on North Dirksen Parkway in Springfield.
The new partnership is a prelude toward putting most forms of local mass transit… including SMTD, Greyhound, and Amtrak… at the new transportation hub now under construction adjacent to the 10th Street tracks in downtown Springfield.
