The plight of migrants being shipped to Illinois from Texas is becoming a political football in this election year.
Democratic Governor JB Pritzker says Illinois is a welcoming state and will help the three busloads of migrants who have arrived so far. But Pritzker calls Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s actions, quote, “disgusting,” and says Abbott is treating the refugees from Venezuela and other nations like “cattle.’ Pritzker’s GOP opponent, Darren Bailey, though, says the situation is the fault of Democrats like Pritzker and President Biden, who he says have allowed an “open border” policy.
Bailey says instead of using tax dollars to shelter the migrants, Pritzker should put them up for free in one of the Hyatt hotels run by some of Pritzker’s relatives.
