Two people are dead following a weekend accident near the Sangamon-Morgan county line.
Authorities say the two victims were in a car that was traveling eastbound on Old Route 36 in Alexander when the car left the roadway, struck a power pole and overturned in a field just after 10pm Saturday night.
One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.
