The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved a disaster declaration for several Northern Illinois counties impacted by the deadly mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade at Highland Park.

Governor JB Pritzker requested the designation, which will make low-interest loans available to businesses and non-profits in and near Highland Park that had to shut down or suffered other financial losses in the aftermath of the shooting.

The declaration applies to businesses in Lake County, but also in the neighboring counties of Cook and McHenry, along with Kenosha County, Wisconsin.
