The president and CEO of Springfield-based Hospital Sisters Health System’s Illinois division has resigned after less than three months on the job.

The Illinois Times reports that Joseph Mullany’s decision to step aside was due to a “family situation,” according to an internal HSHS memo, but no explanation was given. Mullany had taken over as head of the organization’s Illinois division in late April. It’s not the first time he’s left a job after a brief tenure.

The Times reports that Mullany was fired from a hospital in New York state in 2020 after less than a year on the job, and resigned from a hospital network in Florida after less than 18 months.
