The heat is having an impact on some local events and businesses.
The Springfield Municipal Band has canceled its planned Tuesday evening concert in Duncan Park because of the forecasted high temperatures. Its next concert is set for Sunday night, also at Duncan Park. Meanwhile, Charlie Parker’s Diner says it plans to close through Wednesday because of a malfunctioning air conditioning unit in its kitchen. The restaurant says it doesn’t want kitchen staff to be overheated.
The diner could reopen sooner if replacement parts arrive more quickly than expected.
