Aurora Mayor and Republican candidate for governor Richard Irvin says a story about a business he started with an Aurora city employee is nothing more than a “conspiracy theory” being pushed by Governor JB Pritzker.

The Chicago Tribune reported this week that Irvin started the business… which was set up to offer government consulting among other services… with a city worker who is also a lifelong friend of Irvin’s, and two men from Virginia who got Aurora city contracts…but did not disclose their ties to Irvin. Irvin says the business was a fallback in case he lost his last election, but he won… and says the business is dormant.

Appearing live on WMAY, Irvin accused Pritzker of planting the story in the press because Pritzker is afraid to face him in the fall.
