Springfield has hit a record high for gas prices for the second straight day.
Triple A says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded locally jumped 14 cents Thursday to an all-time high of $4.96. Many Springfield stations are selling gas for more than five dollars a gallon for the first time ever.
The Springfield average is still 30 cents a gallon below the statewide average, which also set a record Thursday at $5.26, up 13 cents from a day earlier.
