A new poll suggests the Republican primary for Illinois governor may be turning into a two-person race.
The survey of likely GOP primary voters by WGN-TV, The Hill, and Emerson College shows Richard Irvin leading the six-candidate field with 24-percent of the vote. But State Senator Darren Bailey is a close second at just under 20-percent. The other four contenders are in single digits, with 37-percent still undecided. The poll also finds 57-percent of Republicans would be more likely to vote for a candidate that got the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, an endorsement that Bailey says he’s hoping to receive in the weeks ahead.
The poll has a margin of error of plus-or-minus three-percent.
