Sangamon County has seen its biggest one-day total of new COVID cases in well over two months.
The health department reported 94 new cases on Friday… the most in a single day since February 11th, when the county saw more than 108 new infections. Cases are also on the rise statewide, with new cases up 26-percent over the past week.
The acting director of the Illinois Department of Public Health says Illinois is well positioned to deal with a new COVID surge, and says the state is working with healthcare providers and pharmacies to ensure they have an adequate supply of the latest therapeutic drugs to treat the virus in its early stages.
